NORWALK-LA MIRADA : Superintendent of School District Resigns Office

The superintendent of the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District has resigned, effective today.
Robert Aguilar, 54, who has headed the 19,000-student district for more than four years, told board members that he wanted to spend more time with his family in Central California, said board President Rudy Bermudez. Two years were left in his contract.
Bermudez said the board probably will not name a successor immediately. Deputy Supt. Ginger Shattuck is expected to fill Aguilar’s post until a replacement is found, he said.
The district operates 28 schools in the two cities in Southeast Los Angeles County.
