IRVINE — Mike C. Wang, a 30-year-old Long Beach real estate investor, has purchased the 214-room Airporter Garden Hotel in Irvine for $10 million, his first real estate purchase in Orange County.
Wang, president of the hotel division of Wang Partnership in Long Beach, said the hotel, at 18700 MacArthur Blvd. directly across from John Wayne Airport, is undergoing a $4-million renovation to be completed next month.
The hotel was purchased from the Duffy family, which had owned and operated it for more than 20 years.
“We wanted a location by an airport in an upscale city, and Irvine fit the bill,” Wang said.
The Airporter is the fifth hotel Wang has purchased through his partnership. He owns hotels in Southern California and in Colorado.
