* * * Deconstruction, “Deconstruction,” American. This outing from two former members of Jane’s Addiction marks both the band’s birth and demise--guitarist Dave Navarro has defected to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Pity, because the canny lyrics and apocalyptic musicality create compelling soundscapes. Though the overall thrust is a bit meandering, the album is ultimately engrossing.
