Council Speeds Up Traffic Light Project

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Criticizing the public works staff for delays in installing two traffic lights, the City Council this week accelerated the bidding process to get the lights in before school starts.
The signals, one near Edison High School and the other where Atlanta Avenue intersects Miramar and Greenfield lanes, were to be installed by June. At last week’s meeting, the council was told the lights wouldn’t be in operation until November. City staff said the delay resulted from errors in the plans.
Sealed bids were requested last week and opened this week. The contract for $240,300 was awarded to Moore Electrical Contracting Inc. of Corona.
