Noe Two Shots Behind Leader

Terry Noe of Fullerton shot two-under-par 70 Tuesday and is two shots behind the leader after the first round of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Echo Lake Country Club in Westfield, N.J.
Marion Moore of Orangeburg, S.C., leads at 68. Jin Park of Fullerton shot 71 and Jimmy Lee of Irvine 74.
The tournament continues with stroke play today, then the top 64 players meet in match play; the final is Saturday. Tiger Woods of Cypress has won the last three championships but is too old to play this year.

Akemi Nakata of Dana Point and Kellee Booth of Coto de Caza earned berths for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in qualifying at Old Ranch County Club in Seal Beach.
Nakata shot two-over 74 and Booth shot 77. The amateur championship is Aug. 8-13 in Hot Springs, Va.
