SAUGUS — Sean Woodside solidified his position atop the Sportsman points standings with his fourth main-event victory in five weeks and two other divisions featured new points leaders to highlight Saturday night’s racing at Saugus Speedway.
Woodside entered the night with a 40-point lead over Gary Sigman, who failed to finish the 40-lap feature race.
Ron Daniels of San Bernardino finished second, followed by Sean Monroe of Los Angeles and Simi Valley’s Steve Nickolai.
Brian Kelley failed to win a race, but still managed to move to the top of the Pro Stock points standings.
The 27-year-old Arleta resident entered the 15-lap figure 8 main event with an eight-point advantage over Simi Valley’s Scott Dinger after finishing second in both the 25-lap oval feature and four-lap trophy dash, and third in an eight-lap heat race.
Dinger began with a one-point lead over Kelley, but finished ninth in the oval feature to relinquish the top spot.
Gerrit Cromsigt held off a late challenge from Kelley to register his third consecutive oval feature win and fourth main-event victory in three weeks.
Results from the figure 8 main event were unavailable by press time.
In the Mini Stock division, Terry Limberopoulos took the points lead with his third consecutive main-event victory.
