American Home Products to Cut 2,000 Jobs: The Madison, N.J., company said the restructuring will take place in its U.S. pharmaceutical and consumer health care business this year and next, with most cuts coming when its Hammonton, N.J., facility is closed. Further cuts will be made based on the results of an organizational study of its U.S. pharmaceutical division, the company said. The company took a second-quarter charge of $174 million for the restructuring but said earnings rose to $300 million, or 98 cents a share, from $287.5 million, or 93 cents a share, for the year-ago quarter. Revenue rose to $1.97 billion from $1.9 billion.
