Former Crespi Star Redell Signs With Colts
- Share via
Ron Redell, former quarterback for Crespi High, has signed a free-agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts as a defensive back.
Redell, who graduated from Crespi in 1988 and played defensive back at Stanford before graduating last year, did not play last fall. After working for a San Francisco bank, Redell was granted a tryout with Indianapolis last weekend after he played in an all-star game in Japan earlier this month.
Redell is one of three members of the 1987 Crespi backfield in camp with NFL teams. Tailback Russell White, who attended Cal, is with the Rams. Fullback J.J. Lasley (Stanford) is with the Vikings. In 1987, Crespi reached the Southern Section semifinals, losing to Fontana. The Celts were coached by Redell’s father, Bill, now coach at St. Francis High.
