THOUSAND OAKS : Event to Teach Firms Benefits of Day-Care
- Share via
Thousand Oaks Councilman Frank Schillo believes he’s found a way to encourage business owners to subsidize child care for their employees: show them it pays.
To that end, Schillo has organized a free seminar on July 28 to teach business owners about the financial boosts they could get by either providing on-site child care or helping their employees pay for day care.
Participants will learn about a state tax credit they can earn for every employee who sends kids to day-care--a credit they could pass back to their workers in the form of subsidies.
They’ll also learn about the advantages of sponsoring day care for mildly ill children, so parents no longer have to stay home when kids have runny noses.
The seminar will take place from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the City Hall council chambers July 28. Schillo has already mailed invitations to 2,000 local business owners, but others are welcome as well.
