DOWNEY : Psychiatrist Recommends No Parole for Molester
- Share via
A psychiatrist has recommended that convicted child molester Joe Caro Jr., who was due for parole last Saturday, be sent back to prison for another year.
Caro’s record of sex crimes against children dates to 1952. His scheduled release caused an uproar last week in Downey, where the state Department of Corrections had arranged for the 74-year-old man to move into a motel next door to a preschool playground.
Parole officials reconsidered Caro’s placement after receiving hundreds of phone calls. A hearing on his parole has been set for next month, when his psychiatric evaluation will be reviewed.
