Before the Civil War, thousands of slaves made their way to a new life in Canada via the Underground Railroad. The Niagara Freedom Trail is a new six-hour, drive-it-yourself tour around southern Ontario with plaques at various stops marking where the freedom seekers were hidden, where they crossed over the border, where they lived, where they worshiped and where they’re buried.
