FULLERTON — Thirty-six candidates have applied for the vacant Cal State Fullerton athletic director position.
The deadline for receiving applications for “full consideration” was Friday, according to Alan Saltzstein, search committee chairman. Saltzstein said committee members will review candidates individually next week, and the committee will meet again later in the month.
Saltzstein said the committee will select “four to six” candidates for the position to recommend to school president Milton A. Gordon. Saltzstein said the committee will interview each of these candidates in late August.
The school seeks to replace Bill Shumard, who resigned in May and later became an assistant athletic director at Long Beach State, his alma mater.
