THOUSAND OAKS — A 16-year-old girl was shot to death Wednesday by a teen-age male friend in the kitchen of a condominium, authorities said.
Police said they did not know what prompted the boy to shoot Jacqueline Ann Reay, of Thousand Oaks in the eye at point-blank range in the 3 p.m. incident. The girl was treated at the scene and taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Witnesses said the boy, who was handcuffed at the condominium and later arrested on suspicion of murder, insisted that the shooting was an accident. Police said the 16-year-old boy’s name was not released because he is a minor.
