Ventura police are investigating a carjacking that occurred after the robber tentatively agreed to buy the victim’s Chevrolet Blazer, then forced the owner out of the vehicle at gunpoint during a test drive.
The robbery occurred late Tuesday as Marc Hart was driving with the suspect on Johnson Drive between Thille Street and Telephone Road. Pulling a small handgun from his pocket, the suspect allegedly told Hart: “I’m taking the car. Get out or I will shoot you now.”
Hart jumped out of the car, ran back to his house and called police.
Hart told police that the suspect contacted him after seeing an ad for the Blazer in a truck trader magazine. After several telephone conversations, Hart met the suspect and another man, who was driving a burgundy, full-size Chevrolet pickup.
Both men were described as about 25 years old and weighing about 190 pounds each. Police have made no arrests.
