Memorial: Pasadena’s Day of the African Child
- Share via
Mayor Katie Nack proclaimed June 16, “The Day of the African Child” in Pasadena. The pronouncement says Pasadena will be “remembering the children of Soweto, South Africa, who were massacred in 1976 while speaking out against the injustice of apartheid.”
Shockingly, nowhere to be found in the proclamation is any mention of the African children slaughtered in Rwanda, starved in Ethiopia and Sudan or massacred in Somalia and Uganda during recent years.
I thought the moral bankruptcy of such politically selective compassion had been left behind with our previous mayor, Rick Cole. But apparently I am wrong.
