ANAHEIM : Panel to Consider Building Ice Rink
- Share via
The Planning Commission will consider a proposal today to build an ice hockey rink at a downtown site.
The rink, which would serve both as a practice site for the Mighty Ducks hockey team and a community youth center, would be built on a three-acre parcel at the southwest corner of Lincoln Avenue and Clementine Street.
The Ducks now practice at the Glacial Garden Ice Arena in Anaheim.
The project is a joint venture involving the Walt Disney Co. and the city of Anaheim.
The proposed facility would house two ice rinks--one Olympic size and the other National Hockey League size. The facility would also include a retail pro shop, an amusement arcade and a restaurant.
The public hearing at City Hall begins at 1:30 p.m.
The Planning Commission staff has recommended that the commission approve the project.
