GBF/Ayer Buys Pool Communications: After several years of struggling for business in an increasingly competitive ad market, Los Angeles-based Pool has been acquired by GBF/Ayer for an undisclosed sum, said Dick Fried, president of Los Angeles-based GBF/Ayer. Pool, which opened 15 years ago, will close its doors, and six of its eight full-time employees, including founder Harvey Pool, will join GBF/Ayer. Among the new clients GBF/Ayer obtains with the purchase are CareAmerica, La Costa Resort and Spa, and the Koo Koo Roo fast-food chain.
