SHERMAN OAKS : The Broadway Plans Reopening Saturday
The Broadway store in Sherman Oaks Fashion Square will reopen Saturday, nearly six months after being damaged by the Northridge earthquake.
Only the first two floors will be open to customers, while reconstruction continues on the third floor, said store manager David Richards. The third floor will reopen later this year.
The store will officially reopen at 10 a.m. after a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Festivities will include live music, free make-overs and golf tips in the men’s accessories department.
“We’re as excited as the customers to get the store opened,†said Richards. “We’ve thoroughly recarpeted and relighted the whole store. It’s much brighter.â€
Damage to the store in the Fashion Square mall at 14060 Riverside Drive was caused mainly by water after the Jan. 17 temblor set off the store’s sprinkler system, Richards said.
Bill Ihle, a spokesman for the parent company, Broadway Stores Inc. in Los Angeles, could not provide an estimate of repair costs.
