Philadelphia Phillie catcher Darren Daulton suffered a broken right shoulder in Tuesday night’s 2-1 loss to the Florida Marlins and will be sidelined for six weeks.

Daulton, a National League All-Star the last two seasons, was hit in the shoulder by two foul balls during the game. After the second, in the ninth inning, he was clearly in pain as he tried to throw the ball back to the mound and he left the game.

He leads the Phillies in homers with 15 and runs batted in with 56 and is batting .300.

Tests of Don Mattingly’s sore right wrist showed no significant injury, but the New York Yankee first baseman sat out Tuesday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox. His status is listed as day to day.

Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants led all National League outfielders in voting for the All-Star team. The top vote-getter in the next-to-last results was shortstop Ozzie Smith of the St. Louis Cardinals, with 2,904,866 votes, while Bonds had 1,953,261.

Other position leaders were catcher Mike Piazza of the Dodgers, second baseman Mariano Duncan of the Phillies, third baseman Matt Williams of the Giants and first baseman Gregg Jefferies of the Cardinals.
