NORTH HOLLYWOOD — The unidentified driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 10-year-old boy Wednesday surrendered to police about three hours after the accident, authorities said.
The victim, also unidentified, was crossing the street in the 6700 block of Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood about 6:15 p.m., when the accident occurred, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, said Brian Humphrey, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman.
The car that hit the victim was traveling north at the time of the accident.
The driver, accompanied by two passengers, showed up at the North Hollywood police station, where he surrendered about 9:20 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Robert Ontiveros.
