Police Saturday were investigating the possible theft of $450,000 from the Encino home of comedian Richard Pryor.
Los Angeles Police Sgt. Roger Furguson said Pryor reported the theft Friday night and implicated a former employee.
Pryor told detectives that the money was in a cash box that he kept in his home and was taken between June and August last year when he was on vacation in Hawaii.
Officer Don Cox said he did not know why the 53-year-old comic actor waited so long to report the missing cash.
Pryor has appeared in the films “Lady Sings the Blues,” “Silver Streak,” “Stir Crazy” and “Superman III.”
