A group of local astronomers will allow the public to view the heavens through their telescopes Saturday in celebration of Astronomy Day.
Members of the South Bay Astronomical Society will gather at Highridge Park, one of the highest and darkest spots on the South Bay, said club secretary Jim Tobin.
If the weather is clear, the telescopes will probably point toward the quarter moon, Jupiter and some globular clusters, Tobin said.
The astronomers will be available at 7:30 p.m., with prime viewing after 8:30 p.m., when it becomes completely dark. The park is at 29035 Highridge Road.
