NHL ROUNDUP : Lemieux Ejected in Victory
Tom Barrasso made 26 saves and the Pittsburgh Penguins survived Mario Lemieux’s first-period ejection and beat the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-1, at Pittsburgh on Monday.
Lemieux was given a game misconduct penalty for the third time in his career after he left the penalty box to charge referee Kerry Fraser. Lemieux was disputing a high-sticking call.
Jaromir Jagr and Tomas Sandstrom scored for Pittsburgh as Barrasso continued a hot streak in which he has gone 13-6-2.
N.Y. Rangers 3, Florida 2--Sergei Nemchinov and Steve Larmer scored third-period goals and goalie Mike Richter outdueled John Vanbiesbrouck at New York.
Quebec 6, Buffalo 4--Mike Ricci’s two power-play goals highlighted a three-goal outburst in the first 61 seconds of the second period at Quebec.
Philadelphia 2, Winnipeg 2--The Flyers’ Kevin Dineen beat Tim Cheveldae in the crease with 85 seconds remaining to get the tie.
