OXNARD : Candidates Sought for Economic Board
Candidates are being sought to fill two openings on the board of directors of the newly formed Greater Oxnard Economic Development Corp.
Board members are responsible for helping develop a long-range plan to guide the corporation, formed earlier this year to lure new businesses and beef up Oxnard’s economic base.
Already, the economic development corporation can claim partial credit for persuading GTE California to move to Oxnard. Due in part to a longstanding push to lure new businesses, the Thousand Oaks-based telephone company announced last month that it will establish a customer service center in Oxnard, a move that will bring 650 jobs to the city.
The board is scheduled to expand from seven to nine members in a few months, and prospective board members should be prepared to actively govern the fledgling corporation and help support its mission.
Those interested in applying should contact corporation President Steve Kinney at 385-7444 or write: Greater Oxnard Economic Development Corp., 711 S. A St., Oxnard, 93030.
