More on the Wolves

I have spent several summers in Alaska and I am concerned about the frequently suggested boycotting of Alaskan tourism (Letters, Feb. 28). There are many small businesses in Alaska that depend upon tourism and that have little control over state governmental decisions. A universal boycott is irresponsible and threatens to destroy businesses that should be supported as environmentally responsible, sensitive and constructive. Instead, write to the Alaska Division of Tourism and tell them that you are not going on that expensive luxury cruise to Alaska. Tell them--and do it--that you are instead going on an eco-sensitive wilderness tour to view wolves, whales, sea otters and bears, and that you will insist upon a pristine wilderness experience.
