ROUNDUP : Zamudio’s Error Spoils His Strong Pitching Performance
Joel Zamudio had only himself to blame for a wasted outing in Monroe High’s 2-1 San Fernando tournament loss to Thousand Oaks on Wednesday.
The senior right-hander struck out 13 and walked three while limiting the visiting Lancers (1-0) to two hits, and also went two for three at the plate, but his eighth-inning throwing error on Jason Earles’ bunt allowed the winning run to score from second base.
Monroe (0-2) had tied the score in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
Littlerock 17, Paraclete 2--The Lobos pounded 18 hits in the nonleague game at Paraclete.
Jesse Silva went four for four with a three-run home run. Jorge Pacheco, who homered and tripled, was three for four.
Calabasas 9, Bell-Jeff 6--Designated hitter Sam Rutherford went two for three, driving in three runs and scoring twice for host Calabasas (2-0) in the nonleague game.
David Quintero doubled twice for winless Bell-Jeff (0-3), and Jesse Llamas added a three-run homer in the fourth. The contest was called after six innings because of darkness.
