Reseda’s Cross Named North Valley Player of Year
Reseda High point guard Trenton Cross has been selected North Valley League player of the year by a panel of coaches.
Cross, an All-City Section 3-A Division selection as a junior, averaged 17.4 points before suffering a broken bone in his foot three weeks ago. He has signed a letter of intent to play next season at Cal State Northridge.
Mark Sebek of Nordhoff, Damien Cantrell of Santa Clara and Manuel Escamilla of Santa Paula shared the player of the year award in the Frontier League.
Sebek, a 6-foot-2 senior guard, averaged 24.5 points, 10.7 rebounds, five assists and 2.8 steals per game. He is Nordhoff’s second all-time leading scorer (1,411 points).
Cantrell, a 6-4 senior forward, averaged 21 points, 8.2 rebounds and two steals for the league-champion Saints. Escamilla, a 6-1 junior guard, averaged 17.8 points and four rebounds.
Golf
Nationally renowned golf architect Tom Fazio has been hired to design the Farmont Golf Club, a course to be constructed near Ojai. Construction is expected to begin this year and be completed by 1995.
Fazio’s firm has overseen the remodeling of such acclaimed courses as Inverness Golf Club in Ohio and Oak Hill Golf Club in New York.
Southern California courses designed by Fazio include Pelican Hill Golf Club in Orange County and The Vintage Course in Palm Springs.
