Coach: Josh Davis (fifth year).
1993: 19-4, 12-2 in the Sea View League, lost in Southern Section Division I semifinals to eventual champion Santa Barbara.
Key returners: David Chang, Jr., will play No. 1 or No. 2 doubles; Raja Kapadia, Jr., will battle Chang for No. 3 singles spot; Jason Meyers, Sr., lost in third round of Southern Section Individuals, has already signed to play tennis at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; Seth Turbow, Sr., will play No. 1 doubles; Robert Wilkins, Sr., will play behind Meyers at No. 2 singles.
Key newcomers: Felix Ling, So., will battle for No. 3 singles and play doubles; Chris Seid, So., should play doubles and singles.
Outlook: Meyers, one of the county’s best players, and Wilkins give Davis a solid one-two punch at singles, but strength at doubles will depend on how well junior varsity players such as Ling and Seid perform on the varsity level. “My team is an unknown quantity because I have so many young kids,” Davis said. “We need the young kids to step up. We’ll definitely fight for the league title, and how well we do (in the playoffs) depends on how fast we mature.”
