In another Division I game:
Manhattan Beach Mira Costa 1, Santa Ana 1 (Mira Costa wins shootout, 1-0): Candido Lopez scored one goal, and Jesus Garcia recorded one save for Santa Ana (15-4-3), the second-seeded team in the division. Santa Ana, which outshot Mira Costa, 24-4, lost leading scorer Gerardo Velazquez when he broke his leg in the first overtime period.
In Division II:
Canyon 4, Bellflower St. John Bosco 1--Eric Valent scored two goals, and Brian Mackey and Steve Maynard each added one to lead Canyon (17-5-4). Aaron Harries recorded four saves for the Comanches, who will face Cypress in the second round Tuesday.
Cypress 2, Cerritos Gahr 0--George Difenderfer and Joe Meza scored for host Cypress (14-5-5).
Capistrano Valley 3, Santa Ana Valley 2 (Capistrano Valley wins on shootout, 4-3)--The teams went to a shootout after failing to score in four overtimes, and Marc Wallace won it for the Cougars (14-5-5) with his goal. Capistrano Valley will next face the winner of today’s rescheduled game between Los Alamitos and Paramount.
El Toro 3, Chino Hills Ayala 0--Gerald Nedelykovic, Jose Lopez and Ricky Le scored for El Toro (17-3-5). Lopez and Le recorded their 15th goal a piece for the year. El Toro will play Esperanza Tuesday.
Esperanza 3, Villa Park 1--Mark Alleman had a goal and assist to lead Esperanza (15-5-5). Alleman set up Mike Morales on the Aztecs’ first goal and scored his team-high 18th goal in the second half.
Mater Dei 2, Foothill 0--Third-seeded Mater Dei (20-2-4) advanced as Peter Rudner recorded his 14th shutout. John Gerdis scored his 11th and 12th goals for the Monarchs, who will face Buena Tuesday.
In Division III:
Bell Gardens 3, Anaheim 2 (2 OT)--Jose Sanchez and Sal Torres scored as Anaheim came back from a 2-0 halftime deficit to tie the score at the end of regulation, 2-2. But with three minutes remaining in the second overtime, Bell Gardens’ Louis Ayala scored the winning goal. Anaheim finished 19-7-2.
Laguna Hills 4, Pacifica 0--Ryan Boyajian had a goal and three assists to lead Laguna Hills (12-9-2), which next plays Bell Gardens in the second round Tuesday.
Brea-Olinda 2, Calexico 0--Aaron Gardner scored in the 15th minute of the second half and Brian Rober scored on a breakaway five minutes later to lead Brea (17-4-2). Justin Breazeale had two saves for his 11th shutout for the Wildcats, who will face La Serna, a 1-0 winner over Estancia Friday.
Juan Guiterez had four saves for Calexico (9-8-2).
Santiago 2, Whittier California 0--Timo Rodriguez scored two goals in the first half for host Santiago (15-3-3). Horacio Rivera and Danny Contreas had assists and goalie Alex Carranza recorded his ninth shutout for the Cavaliers, who will next play Trabuco Hills.
Trabuco Hills 1, Western 0--Angel Perdomo scored the only goal unassisted for Trabuco Hills (15-7-1). Western finished 13-6-4.
