Rock ‘n’ roll bands will be making music Sunday to benefit abused and neglected children.
The “Kids Benefit Jam” will be held from 2 p.m. until midnight at Music City, 18774 Brookhurst St.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Orangewood Children’s Home, a county-operated facility that provides emergency care and shelter, said Brad Morisette, event coordinator for the Fun Book, a recreation and entertainment directory that is co-sponsoring the daylong concert with Music City.
Morisette said the Fun Book will be coordinating a series of events this year to raise money for the children at the county facility.
“We want to create some fun and entertainment for them so it takes the trauma and drama out of their lives, because they’re not getting a fair shake,” he said.
Morisette said the bands and entertainers are performing free. Raffles and auctions will also be held, and there will be a free buffet from 2 to 8 p.m.
Tickets are $10 before the event and $13 at the door. Morisette said tickets are $8 at the door with a toy or item appropriate for a child or teen-ager.
