China Wants BBC Dropped From Network: The Ministry of Radio, Film and Television said it advised Star TV, the Asian regional satellite network controlled by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. media empire, to drop the British Broadcasting Corp. channel. It also said Star officials told it of plans to abandon the BBC. Murdoch told reporters in India that he may replace the BBC World Service Television news and current affairs channel with his own Sky TV news channel because of allegations of bias leveled against the BBC by China and India. China has complained about BBC coverage of the 1989 crackdown on protesters in Tian An Men Square and a documentary film portraying its late leader Mao Tse-tung as a man with a sexual appetite for young women.
