Southwest Tops Airlines in On-Time Performance: Transportation Department figures for 1993 show that Southwest completed 89.7% of flights on time, which is defined as within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival time. Northwest finished in second place at 85.9%, closely followed by America West’s 85.5% performance. Others ranked were Alaska Airlines, 84.4% on time; USAir, 82.9%; TWA, 82.6%; American, 80.8%; Continental, 79.0%; United, 78.5%, and Delta, 76.7%.
