SIMI VALLEY : Horse Killed When Trailer Overturns
A horse was killed Sunday when the trailer it was riding in overturned on the Simi Valley Freeway, authorities said.
The 12:30 p.m. accident occurred on the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Tapo Street when the trailer disconnected from the truck that was towing it. Eastbound traffic was backed up for about two miles while emergency crews cleared the freeway lanes.
Investigators were still trying to determine late Sunday why the trailer detached from the truck, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesman.
The driver and occupants of the truck were not hurt. A second horse in the trailer escaped injury.
