FASHION : Clothes Make the Man a Loser in the Dating Game
Sighs of disappointment were heard at “Let’s Make a Date,” a fund-raiser at Trattoria Spiga in Costa Mesa that tried to find matches between women from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and men from Young Professionals Against Cancer.
The simulated “Studs” game show Tuesday should have been called “Duds.”
The heartbreaking outcome?
None of the three women, each of whom went out with the two men, chose to have another date with destiny.
Were the guys rejected because their standard-cut suits were as sartorially exciting as dating a sibling? No. The turnoff, said the women, was that the men’s clothes reflected their conservative personalities.
“There was no sparkle,” sniffed a disapproving woman contestant. “And they looked like George Bush.”
