COLLEGE BASKETBALL / BIG WEST ROUNDUP : Long Beach State Rolls; Fullerton Storms Back
Freshman guard James Cotton scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and junior center Mike Atkinson added 20 points and eight rebounds Thursday night to lead the Long Beach State basketball team to an 88-75 Big West Conference victory over visiting Pacific in the campus gym.
Forward Rod Hannibal added 17 points and eight rebounds and guard Jeff Rogers scored 13 for the 49ers (11-7, 6-5). Forward Glenn Griffin of Pacific led all scorers with a career-high 24 points. Long Beach snapped a two-game losing streak. It was only the second loss for the Tigers (14-9, 8-4) in the last nine games.
