MOORPARK : Victim Got Order Against Husband
Only days before a Moorpark woman was slain by her husband, she had obtained a restraining order to prevent him from selling or securing loans against his company’s assets, authorities said Thursday.
According to court records, June Abe had obtained the restraining order against her husband, Carl Abe, 49, on Monday. That day, she also filed for divorce on the basis of irreconcilable differences.
On the same day, Carl Abe was notified of the restraining order and of his wife’s filing for divorce. On Wednesday morning, he fatally shot her before killing himself.
Court documents show that June Abe claimed that the company that Carl Abe operated in Moorpark--a business providing seminars on buying and selling trust deeds--was community property.
In the divorce papers, June Abe claimed that her husband was keeping the operation of the business a secret from her and that she had no idea how much the business was worth.
She feared that if her husband found out that she was filing for divorce, he would sell the company’s second trust deeds and hide the profit from her.
In the court records, June Abe also said that her husband kept their domestic expenses a secret from her by paying for all the family’s expenses himself and giving her a monthly stipend of $700. The stipend stopped six months ago.
She also claimed that Carl Abe had prohibited her from going into the company’s office. June Abe had worked at the company for several years, but she quit about six years ago at the birth of the couple’s first child.
The couple, who were married for nearly 12 years, left three children, ages 6 years to 18 months. The children are staying with neighbors since the deaths of their parents, authorities said.
