GARDEN GROVE : Program Aimed at Safety of Children
A parent education program aimed at keeping children safe from abuse and abduction will be held at Loyal H. Barker Elementary School today.
The event will be held in the school’s multipurpose room, starting at 7 p.m., said Alan Trudell, spokesman for the Garden Grove Unified School District.
Meredith Kallas, a safety education spokeswoman for the Adam Walsh Center of California, will offer tips on child safety and preventing the abduction of children. The Adam Walsh Center is a branch of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Refreshments and free child care will be provided during the event, which is sponsored by the school’s Parent Teacher Assn. The program is part of an effort by the PTA and staff to get parents more involved in school activities, Trudell said.
The school is at 12565 Springdale St. The program is open to all parents of students at Barker and neighboring elementary schools.
