Broadcasters Seek to Enter New Businesses: Television broadcasters have asked Congress to allow them to supplement their use of the airwaves with computer data and paging services. They said the new offerings would provide competition to advanced telecommunications services being planned by the cable and telephone industries. In the past, federal regulators have resisted giving broadcasters such flexibility.
