SUPER BOWL XXVIII / Cowboys 30, Buffalo Bills 13 : SPOTLIGHT : GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD (JUST KIDDING)
Georgia Frontiere, owner of the Rams, gave her first interview in eight years recently. Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, cannot go eight minutes without speaking to a reporter.
“This one doesn’t mean anything more, but just as much,†Jones said, while occupying the same interview booths reserved for players after the game. “The other one was a great comeback from being on your knee and criticized and a little bit ridiculed. That was a wonderful feeling.
“This is a confirmation; this is the good housekeeping stamp of approval.â€
Jones said nothing is impossible, but he said, “in my mind it’s zero probability†that Coach Jimmy Johnson will leave the Cowboys.
“We like each other,†Jones said. “We have a lot of water under the bridge. We have no problem working together. Some of this stuff started when people thought of us at first as buddies that would lay awake and drink. That was not the case.
“I told him in Little Rock about a week before I closed the deal (to buy the Cowboys), ‘Come with me. We may be a part of one of the greatest sports stories ever.’ â€
