PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP : Kennedy Shuts Out Santiago
Kennedy goalkeeper Tiffany Alvis recorded her sixth shutout of the season as the Fighting Irish defeated Santiago, 5-0, in a Garden Grove League girls’ soccer game Monday at Kennedy.
Kennedy (12-4-1, 8-0 in league) scored all five goals in the first half, led by Heather Darin with two. Jamie Peitranowicz, Danielle Nagami and Cherilyn Smith each scored once.
Santiago is 0-9, 0-6.
In another Garden Grove League girls’ game:
La Quinta 3, Bolsa Grande 1--Lisa Cahn scored two goals for La Quinta (7-12-4, 6-2).
In nonleague girls’ soccer:
Aliso Niguel 5, Rancho Alamitos 1--Freshmen scored all the goals for Aliso Niguel (7-5-2). Brittany Sutton had two and Nicole Trott, Cindy Johnson and Kirsten Roy each added one. Angel Vigil scored for Rancho Alamitos.
In Garden Grove League boys’ soccer:
Los Amigos 1, Rancho Alamitos 0--Manuel Navarro scored and goalies John Cone and Brian Laskey combined for nine saves for Los Amigos (7-7-2, 5-2-2). Jaime Galvan had 11 saves for Rancho Alamitos (2-5-2 in league).
Pacifica 1, Garden Grove 0--Graig Chow scored for Pacifica (5-2-4, 4-1-4). Robert Duncan had 10 saves to record his fourth shutout for the Mariners.
Santiago 4, Kennedy 0--Albert Mendez scored two second-half goals and added an assist and Antonio Diaz and Abraham Beltran also scored for Santiago (10-3-3, 8-0-1). Kennedy is 4-2-3 in league.
