How Low Can Television Sitcoms Go?
I am very disappointed that television has sunk so low that it can take the horror going on in Bosnia and blithely turn it into sitcom humor. Apparently the plight of the Bosnian Muslims is of so little consequence that their pain and misery can be trivialized and exploited with impunity.
Let’s make a switch here: Instead of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s†Hilary Banks, in pursuit of a news anchorwoman job, uttering, “Now who’s this Bosnia guy?†(as she did in the Jan. 10 episode), let’s have her say, “Now who’s this Holocaust guy and what’s this concentration camp business, anyway?†Not so funny anymore, is it?
