PREP WRESTLING ROUNDUP : Los Alamitos Wins on Trammell’s Pin
Heavyweight Steve Trammell needed either a technical fall or a pin to give Los Alamitos a victory Thursday. Trammell pinned George Hernandez in 4 minutes 51 seconds and the Griffins beat Loara, 31-29, in an Empire League meet at Los Alamitos.
At 160 pounds, Clay Kemp pinned Loara’s Jose Casdellanos in 3:33. Los Alamitos remains unbeaten at 4-0, 2-0.
In another Empire League meet:
Esperanza 36, Katella 30--Tony Cardone, at 160 pounds, pinned his opponent in 3:00, for Esperanza (1-2, 1-1).
In the Century League:
Canyon 43, Orange 27--At 119, Brian Kruecher of Canyon pinned Tommy Belcher in 3:12. Teammate Mike Tang (135 pounds) pinned Andrew Margo in 37 seconds. Canyon is 7-7, 1-2.
Villa Park 52, Santa Ana Valley 19--Junior Huck Finn, a two-time Century League champion, remained undefeated in league with a major decision at 119 pounds for Villa Park (4-8, 2-1).
In the Freeway League:
Sunny Hills 57, Sonora 13--Doug Tessler, at 189 pounds, recorded his first varsity pin for Sunny Hills (15-0, 3-0), beating his opponent in 3:51.
In the Garden Grove League:
Rancho Alamitos 41, Bolsa Grande 34--Robert Meza, at 189 pounds, pinned his opponent in 34 seconds and heavyweight Frank Woods followed with a pin in 1:20 to give Rancho Alamitos the victory.
In the Sea View League:
Saddleback 46, Newport Harbor 30--Heavyweight Jim Abriz of Saddleback (5-9, 2-3) increased his record to 23-1, including 16 pins, when he pinned Jason Deere in 1:02.
In the South Coast League:
San Clemente 75, Mater Dei 0--No. 10 San Clemente (16-3, 3-0) had 11 pins in 13 matches.
