LOCAL NOTES : San Clemente’s Klaasen Commits to Oregon
San Clemente linebacker Ryan Klaasen has orally committed to Oregon, Triton Coach Mark McElroy said Friday.
Klaasen, a two-year starter, was a Times’ first-team All-Orange County selection this season. He was twice named to the All-South Coast League team.

Eric Olson, a junior setter on the Irvine Valley volleyball team, has transferred to George Mason and will play this spring, the university announced.
Olson graduated in 1991 from Capistrano Valley, which won two league titles during his three varsity seasons. As a senior he was voted South Coast League MVP and participated in the Orange County All-Star game.
He was a two-year starter at Irvine Valley, where he averaged 14 assists and 1 1/2 digs in 55 games. Olson was a first-team all-conference selection last year.

Robert Harrison has been named the baseball coach at Western. Harrison coached the Pioneer freshman team to an undefeated record last season.

Members of the El Toro water polo team, the Southern Section Division I champions, will be among those honored Sunday at the fifth CIF/Southern Section Water Polo Awards Banquet at the Sequoia Club in Buena Park.
All-section players and members from the title runners-up teams: Corona del Mar, Sunny Hills, Costa Mesa and Los Amigos will also be recognized. Steve Heaston, coach at California, will be guest speaker.
