A couple was robbed of $168,000 worth of computer chips, jewelry, cash and guns by five suspected gang members in a home invasion style robbery, police said Wednesday. A 21-year-old female family member was raped with a foreign object during the takeover, police said.
The suspects, three of whom were armed with handguns, approached the middle-aged couple as they entered their Van Nuys home about 6:30 p.m. Monday and occupied the house for five hours, tying up the couple and four other family members. Police said they believe the men, identified as being 25 to 30 years old, were after $50,000 worth of computer chips kept in the house.
“It appears to be a target robbery,” said Officer Russ Wong of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Asian Crime Investigation Section. “They had an idea of what they were looking for.”
Police said they have no suspects in the case.
