Two California hotels, the Peninsula Beverly Hills and the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco, are new recipients of the Mobil Travel Guide’s Five-Star awards.
The two join four repeat winners: the Stouffer Stanford Court Hotel, San Francisco, which has received the award 20 times; the Four Seasons Clift Hotel, San Francisco, 19 times; the Four Seasons at Beverly Hills, four times, and the Hotel Bel-Air, twice. In the resort category, one U.S. lodging, the Phoenician in Scottsdale, Ariz., also received the Five-Star Award for the first time.
The newcomers are among 24 lodgings and 12 restaurants in the United States that have the Five-Star Award designation. No hotels were dropped this year.
