Twenty years after Noel Coward’s death, the four-acre Jamaican estate where the playwright entertained the likes of Laurence Olivier, Claudette Colbert, David Niven, the Queen Mother and Winston Churchill is aglow once again.
“Firefly,” named because of the prevalence of lightning bugs, has been reopened in the town of Port Maria, near Oracabessa. Visitors may tour the painstakingly restored house and grounds, watch a 20-minute video on Coward’s life and career, and ogle the fine collection of memorabilia. Admission is $10.
