SAN GABRIEL VALLEY : 17-Mile Car-Pool Lane Opens on Foothill Freeway

A 17-mile car pool lane on the Foothill Freeway opened Thursday, stretching from Pasadena to Glendora.
The car pool lane is the most recent in a planned 300-mile network of high occupancy vehicle lanes to be in place by 2000. The new lane runs from Lake Avenue in Pasadena to Sunflower Avenue in Glendora.
To celebrate the new car-pool lane, festivities were held at Pasadena’s City Hall, including a natural-gas powered vehicle that made brief trips on the freeway.
