Fire destroyed a bedroom and bath of a second-floor apartment early Friday afternoon, causing an estimated $25,000 damage.
No one was hurt, said Newport Beach Fire Capt. Craig Chastain. The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
The fire was reported at about 12:20 p.m. Fourteen firefighters responded to the home in the 3300 block of Seaview Avenue.
No one was home when the fire started, officials said.
“We saw heavy smoke coming from the rear of the second-story window,” Chastain said.
Firefighters forced their way through the front door and extinguished the blaze in six minutes.
The apartment was part of a duplex. Damage to the building was estimated at $5,000. There was an estimated $20,000 in damage to the inside of the home, Chastain said.
