ORANGE : School Board OKs Personnel Policy
- Share via
The Orange school board has approved an updated personnel policy--its last official act before swearing in four new members this week.
The revised personnel policy, which deals with such issues as hiring practices and academic freedom, is designed to keep the district in compliance with state and federal laws.
With only minor word changes, the board voted 6 to 0 last week to ratify the new policy.
Tuesday night was also the farewell meeting for board President Lila Beavans and members Barry Resnick, John Hurley and Alan E. Irish.
Martin Jacobson, Rick Ledesma, James Fearns and Max Reissmueller were elected in November.
The outgoing board members received plaques of appreciation.
District tradition calls for a board member to present the departing president with the gavel used during meetings.
When handing the gavel over to Beavans, Resnick said: “This one is pretty well dinged up.”
