Two Hollywood Stakes Are Won by Antley
Chris Antley, who has impressed at Hollywood Park after arriving late in the Oak Tree season from New York, won two of the three stakes offered on a special twilight card at Hollywood Park on Friday.
After riding Cool Air to a five-length victory at 9-1 in the $52,000 Eloquent Handicap, Antley returned to guide favored Individual Style to victory in the $100,000 Hollywood Prevue Breeders’ Cup Stakes.
Owned by the First Cabin Stable and trained by Lin Wheeler, Individual Style, a 2-year-old Something Lucky colt, won for the fifth time in seven starts. He has been beaten only once in in five one-turn races. He covered the seven furlongs in 1:21 and paid $4.40 as the 6-5 favorite.
Raced primarily in Canada before being moved to Gary Jones’ barn, Cool Air stalked the fast early pace, then swept past the leaders to win in 1:01 3/5 for the 5 1/2 furlongs on turf. She paid $21.20.
Antley barely missed a stakes sweep when Dior’s Angel, a 64-1 shot, missed by a half-length in the $56,600 Allez France Handicap. Gumpher, ridden by Corey Nakatani, led wire-to-wire in the race, paying $14.20.
